BSNL and Aakash tablets – these are the two major players, other than Funbook, in the budget tablets segment. However, there are certain features, including its Andriod 4.0 ice cream sandwich OS, which are expected to render a marvelous response to this Micromax product. The target customers remain the same for BSNL and Aakash - youth and students who wish to enjoy the facilities without burning their pockets, while Micormax targets more on the student class. Here is a brief comparison of these low cost tablets. Make sure you read through before you pick one for you.

As per the user experience and review the Micromax Funbook seems to be the best budget Android Tablet.

For lakh of people especially the young, across India, a tablet that can be used to access internet via GPRS is imperative…
i shall be more than happy if micromax includes the sim card and gprs option in this FUNBOOK venture….
I my self will surely buy it!!!!
I completely agree with u! If micromax would have given a sim card facility for gprs and calls, this tablet would have been one of the best tabs in the market! As we Indian consumers always desire for cheap prices in every products, micromax should have given an attention to it by providing a sim card facility , as 3g connectivity is immensely an expensive connectivity, and if we talk about WI-fi, most people don’t even know what it is! So, in that case i appeal to micromax to provide that connectivity in its upcoming models as soon as they can and that too without any extra expense for it!
Funbook is clear winner in speed due to blazing 1.2 GHZ processor and 512 MB RAM. THis high RAM and processor speed make it easy for using it for reading word doc or heavy ppt slides. Even for on-line gaming and video browsing 512 MB RAM is much better.
Also HDMI port is great advantage if you want to connect to TV or projects for business or entertainment purpose.
On down side a GPRS SIM connectivity is must for and PAD launched in India.
Also full size USB slot is must.
Camera and Screen Resolution is also low which may be required to be increased in next version !!
A recommended buy for parents of metro city students as it offer tie-up with education material providers.
If it would had sim slot and GPRS facility and gps then I too would have bought it surely….. Please bring it with this facility…
Is it available in retail shops??
The screen resolution seems to be low even as compared to BSNL pantel Rs 3,250/- worth tablets and its bettery 2800mAh is also low as this would surly result in early drainage of battery and I don’t know about internal memory, but it should be at least 1 GB for comfortable fast processing with lots of apps installed in it. Otherwise its os i.e. Android 4.0 is the latest in its class.
I haven’t seen this kind of Tablet ever in my life. Heads off to that person who made this exceptional tablet
