Here is the stpes to connect the Micromax Funbook tabs to USB dongle. This method will work on all the Funbook model.
Although Funbook comes with pre bundled Tata Photon but had some kind of issues with the connectivity. However, the fact is that you can use any USB Modem/Dongle in Micromax Funbook and connect to the internet. And, here is how you go about it!
Steps to connect USB Modem/Dongle in Micromax Funbook
1.Connect the dongle to the Funbook tablet and wait for sometime till the tablet reads it.
2. Go to Settings in your Funbook and select More option.
3. Select Mobile Networks and in that again select Acess Point Name[APN].
4. Now choose New APN option.
5. Just make the following changes[ Name, APN and Dial Number]:-
-> Fix the network name. Eg:- For Tata photon just write TP or Tata or anything as you wish.
-> Careful with APN, search the net for your service provider’s APN. Then write it precisely.
-> Dongles come with dial number. Check your purchase papers/manuals or simply search it Google and note it. Fill the same here and you are done. eg. For Reliance it is #777 and Tata Docomo it is #999.
Wow! You are now free to use the USB dongle of your choice and just connect to the internet
You are now ready to explore a new world of fun. A word of caution here – if you are outside your home circle, then make sure you activate the Data Roaming option for unrestricted browsing.

I bought the micromax P300 tablet lastweek. The performance is OK. All I want to know is that i have a Nokia N73 mobile with BSNL 3G connection. I need to use the 3G in my mobile for this tablet through the USB cable . When i connected the mobile (N73) to the tablet it is not identifying the network. It is identifying as mass storage device. Please help me to solve this issue.

I m using i-ball net connect usb dongle in which you can insert any card and use the net.So when i plugged that usb dongle through the cable to the funbook it showed no internet connection.Then i went to setting->wireless networks->more->apn/access point names.There were no apn’s there.Then i tried to configure the settings on my own but when i clicked on save option it is not saving that settings.What should i do?

the truth is that u can only use the TATA PHOTON+ dongal.
You can use any unlocked data card. I am use airtel 3g dongle of Huwai made it is unlocked, the best thing is that it will config APN automatically if any problem .

I hv used both bsnl 3g and micromax usb (generic) dongle for net access ,but when i plugged the usb dongle it shows no internet connection.Then i went to setting->wireless networks->more->apn/access point names.There wasn’t any apn .after that i tried to configure the settings of my own but when i clicked on save option it is not saving that settings. also it is giving the msg as ‘Usb is damaged’.

friends, good news for you…you can use dongle other than photon+..just buy a IDEA NET SETTER(E1550) ..THEN UNLOCK IT..THE ORIGINAL SOFTWARE OF THE DONGLE MUST BE REPLACED BY “MOBILE PARTNER ” SOFTWARE..NOW USE ANY 3G ACTIVATED SIM( AIRCEL MY PREFERENCE)..just connect it to your Funbook..its automatically pop up 3g connection & signal bar…ENJOY
